Arc Design International is an architectural firm that operates at a global level implementing the highest design quality, respectful of the environmental and cultural context of each site, and in accordance with the "State of the Art" design standards.

Established in 1966, and registered in Canada in 1981, the firm has undertaken projects in Canada, the United States, Europe, the Middle East, the South Pacific and China, providing comprehensive architectural services from development of project briefs, conceptual design, through to design development, construction documents, and contract administration inclusive of interior design, site review and project management.

Completed projects of the firm include residential, commercial, industrial, medical, institutional and religious projects ranging from individual dwellings to mixed-use complexes, several of which were award-winning designs. Emphasis is on providing unique and consistently thoughtful solutions to each problem. Some of the projects have been highly complex in their program requirement and site restraints. Unique solutions to difficult problems have been developed to save cost and time. Several of these projects have become landmarks of cities and have appeared on bank notes, stamps and logos of companies.

In addition to architectural services, the firm, in close cooperation with a network of world renown consultants, offers the full range of consultant services inclusive of structural, mechanical, electrical, quantity surveying, site supervision and project management.

With its primary commitment to excellence, Arc Design has been able to deliver projects on time and within budget. This has resulted in being called by the same client repeatedly for different projects. The ability and ingenuity of the principal and staff within the firm have been tested, not only by a wide range of varying project types, but also by a diversity of building and construction forms. Equipped with computer aided design facility, Arc Design utilizes current technology such as 3D modeling and computer animation programs to help solve its clients' problems and produce leading edge facilities.

Hossein Amanat has been practicing in Vancouver since 1980. Now a Canadian citizen, he was born in Iran in 1942, where he established his reputation after winning a nationwide competition as a young graduate, to design the Shahyad Freedom Monument in Tehran, which has since become a symbol of modern Iran.

This first architectural project led to the opportunity for Mr. Amanat to create some of the most prestigious modern buildings in Iran, including handicrafts centres, schools, universities, libraries and a resort town on the edge of the Caspian Sea. His practice was extended to the international domain when he became the architect of the Embassy of Iran in Beijing, China, now standing as one of the most distinguished embassies in the diplomatic quarter of that city. Through the development of these projects, Mr. Amanat established himself at the forefront of the avant-garde architects in Iran who were applying principles of traditional Persian architecture and geometry to modern structures.

Hossein Amanat's practice has spread still further throughout the world. Apart from the above, he has designed the world administrative centre of the Baha'i Faith in Haifa, Israel, a House of Worship in Western Samoa, factories in Dalian, China, many condominiums in Santa Monica, California, and many residential towers. Most recently he designed a library for Beijing Broadcasting Institute in China, two 36 storey residential towers in San Diego and twin 30 storey residential towers along the Skytrain Millennium Line in Burnaby, B.C.

Throughout all these projects, Mr. Amanat has demonstrated a particular skill in the application and combination of diverse cultural themes. He has received awards for his unique designs and has lectured on art and architecture at cultural and educational conferences.
